Over the next 21 days, Africa Global Radio will share the future aspirations of the 21 most inspiring and influential women from Africa and the diaspora, who featured on the BBC’s 100 Women 2019 list.
The selection was suggested by the BBC’s network of World Service languages teams. They looked for candidates ‘who had made the headlines or influenced important stories over the past 12 months, as well as those who had inspiring stories to tell, achieved something significant or influenced their societies in ways that wouldn’t necessarily make the news’. The names were then assessed against BBC’s 2019 theme – the Female Future – and measured for regional representation and due impartiality, before the final 100 were chosen.
