Did you know Ethiopia has the most Unesco World Heritage Sites in Africa?

No African country has more United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) sites than Ethiopia. UNESCO recognizes and protects sites of globally significant, cultural or natural heritage value. 

In Ethiopia there are 9 World heritage sites. 8 of which are cultural and one is natural making them 9.

The 8 consist of :

1. Axum (or Aksum) – northern Ethiopia
2. Fasil Ghebbi – a fortress city, Gondar
3. Harar Jugol, the Fortified Historic Town
4. Awash River – The Birthplace of Humanity
5. Rock-Hewn monolithic Churches of Lalibela
6. Tiya Stelae Field – Central Ethiopia
7. Konso Cultural Landscape – Ethiopia
8. Lower Valley of the Omo River – Ethiopia

and the only natural one is the 

9. Simien Mountains National Park – the Roof of Africa
