Did you know Ethiopia has unveiled its first local fully assembled electric car?

Ethiopia has unveiled a locally-assembled electric car from Marathon Motor, a joint venture between Korean auto giant Hyundai and Olympic champion Haile Gebrselassie.

The company’s plant has the capacity to assemble 10,000 cars per year.

The electric car, which is fully battery operated and with no emissions, does not require charging at terminals, and can rather be charged anywhere.

This is also in line with the Ethiopian government’s agenda to transform Ethiopia’s greening and climate-resilient aspirations into concrete actions through the Green Legacy initiative.
