Did you know on February 27, 1872 Charlotte E. Ray graduated from Howard University School of Law and is credited as the first female African-American lawyer in the United States of America

Four days after her graduation on March 2, 1872, she was admitted to the District of Columbia Bar which also made her the first female to be admitted to the District of Columbia Bar and the first woman admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the District of Columbia
