Did you know The Moors from North Africa conquered and ruled Spain?

The Moors were the Muslim inhabitants of the Maghreb, the Iberian Peninsula, Sicily, and Malta during the Middle Ages.

SO how did the MOORS GET TO SPAIN?

The Spanish occupation by the Moors began in 711 AD when an African army, under their leader Tariq ibn-Ziyad, passed through Morocco and crossed the Strait of Gibraltar from northern Africa and invaded the Iberian peninsula ‘Andalus’ in Spain. They were of Berber and Arab descent.

The Moors, introduced new scientific techniques to Europe, such as an astrolabe, a device for measuring the position of the stars and planets. Scientific progress in Astronomy, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography and Philosophy flourished in Moorish Spain.

They also built universities and mosques and ruled Spain for 781 years (from 711-1492).
