Out of Africa’s 47 countries, 16 of them are landlocked. This means that about a third of the continent is made up of countries that have no access to the ocean or sea.
Chad is the largest of the 16 landlocked countries in Africa. The rest of the 15 countries include Burkina Faso, Burundi, Central African Republic, Botswana, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Malawi, Mali, Niger, Rwanda, Swaziland, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Zambia and South Sudan.
