Namibia books ticket to Esports World Championship finals

The Namibian Esports team has booked a ticket to IESF’s 12th Esports World Championship, slated for Eilat, Israel from December 6 – 9.

The Namibian Electronic Sports Association (NESA) spokesperson Salome De Bruyn told Xinhua on Tuesday that the team managed this following their online wins against the South African national team in the Southern Africa Region Tournaments held on Oct. 25-26.

De Bruyn said Namibia secured spots in both Tekken 7 and the Defense of the Ancients 2 (DotA2), but unfortunately, the Namibian athlete missed a spot for the championship following his loss in the Football PES, which he lost by a narrow margin.

According to De Bruyn, in Dota2, Namibia will be represented by Franlo ‘FreyTiX’ Meyer; Mauro ‘PoRRa07’ Teles; Jurgen ‘Phycodamage’ Teichert; Paul ‘APoC’ Bingel and Stiaan ‘Iceman’ van der Merwe (team captain).

For Tekken 7 Namibia will be represented by Matias ‘Kandali’ Fillemon.
