The second edition of the Slam-Poetry tournament of the city of Kinshasa called “Grand Slam de Kin” returns after 3 years. The call for applications launched goes until October 10 for poet-slam artists wishing to take part in the adventure. They will compete on the stage according to the constituencies (commonly called districts) of the capital and a jury will give scores, the 3 best of which will bring those who obtain it to the final.
Candidates must be of legal age, that is to say, be 18 years of age or older. The application is made by sending two slam texts by Whatsapp to +243 825 167 688 and filling out the information form available on the Facebook page of Lipoposlam, the structure which organizes the tournament.
The final will take place at the French Institute in Kinshasa on October 29. The top 3 from each constituency will compete in the final. The winner will represent the city of Kinshasa at the National Slam-Poetry Cup, the date of which remains to be defined. The selection stages of those who will make the final will be done by district on October 15, 16, 22 and 23.
The scenes of the playoffs like that of the Grand Slam de Kin final take place in the principles of Slam-Poetry as established by its creator Marc Smith, but with certain adaptations to meet the specific needs of the Kinshasa public. The texts to be declaimed must be in French only.
For example, each poet declaims his own texts and each poem lasts 3 minutes maximum. 5 judges mark the poets, between 0 and 10. In the final, the poets will compete in 2 rounds, the 2nd round being devoted to the theme of the evening which will be given. The first edition was won by Shekinah from Afrik, in 2019.
