Tanzanian Artist Diamond Platnumz Announces Plan to Build a Football Academy with Samuel Eto’o

Award-winning Tanzanian musician Nasib Abdul, known for his stage name Diamond Platnumz, has announced plans to build a state-of-the-art football academy in the East African nation.

Diamond said he has for a long time now been holding talks with Cameroonian soccer legend Samuel Eto’o to establish a vibrant and lucrative football club in Tanzania to tap into East African talent.

He emphasized that the East African region has football potential that can be fully developed when the relevant infrastructure and supports are put in place.

“In the past, I thought that venturing into sports business was not profitable but now I see that it is beneficial. In the near future, I will have my own team which already is trading in the Mainland Premier League because I do not want to start from scratch,” he said. The artist has, however, not given timelines for the project.

The announcement comes shortly after the megastar’s performance at the recent CAF awards gala, where he wowed FIFA boss Gianni Infantino and prodded him to the dance floor.
