There is this journey
We all must endeavour to embark on;
A journey to save ourselves,
A journey to save our land,
A journey to rescue the earth.
This journey,
As wide as the breadth of the wild
Woven with fibres
Of treachery & of flabbergast…
This journey,
A walking lake of roaring flame
Spitting fires at us
And seeking to devour us all…
This journey,
A metaphor of the wilderness
Little strength,
Yet so much expected to be yielded with…
Yet, we must
Not find an excuse to be slaves to death:
We must rise above
The kibows of Kilimanjaro & till this night is bright,
We must find light
In the night to clear this monstrous cove!
There is this journey
We all must endeavour to embark on…
[At last] do not
Hang in there & watch our spirit of Ubuntu
Run out of breath
And wane and wane and wane…
There is this journey
We all must endeavour to embark on
For this death staring at us
Must see us & never stretch its icy arms upon this land
Fellow Countrymen,
Be [you] moved by the sorrows of the Past
To save the Present
& haste to rescue the future
It is time!
Drop the banners of faith, tribe, race & politics;
Lift up the flag
Of this Motherland & onward [to victory], let’s the march
[Song: Woya ee, Woyawoya 2x]
This coronarised night
Must not long live!
This Covid-19
Must wade and wane and wane…soon
Wash your hands with soap under running water
Ensure Social Distance
Apply the Sanitizer
No hugging, no shaking, no dying…
[Song: Woya ee, Woyawoya!]
