Africa is the one continent receiving global praise and referenced on a regular basis because of the wealth of resources it has. Over the years she has had some of her own [children] be honored in historical literature for being among the richest in the world – Mansa Musa (Mali empire, c. 1280 – c. 1337) who earned his fortune through the trade of gold and salt, to Alhaji Alhassan Dantata who made it big in the 1950s from Nigeria through groundnut exportation. Currently there are some names that Africa, along with the rest of the world cannot ignore when it comes to their acknowledgement and the heights they have reached with their wealth. 

The COVID-19 pandemic sure did some damage, affecting businesses and their operations all over the world. Nevertheless there were some businesses and industries that still encountered some growth and increase in their wealth from the continent. Seven countries from Africa had people make it into the Forbes list of billionaires as their wealth is measured by stock prices.

There are 18 billionaires in total from Africa making up about $84.9 billion, from South Africa, Egypt and Nigeria with a demand on products from cement to luxury goods. Although there has been a decline in the members’ list, Africa continues to remain amongst the world’s suppliers of natural resources; staples to be recognized on the international markets and changing economies for the better.
