Ghana and Burkina Faso are set to lock horns in a second group stage encounter of the men’s beach volleyball competition on Tuesday.
Monday’s encounter between the two sides was rescheduled after organizers of the African Games couldn’t find an answer to the poor visibility issues.
The contest between Nigeria and Egypt in the women’s category suffered a similar fate as the match had to be canceled mid-game also.
Earlier in the day, Ghana’s women’s team launched a spirited comeback to overturn a first set deficit to move past Gambia by two sets to one in their first group stage encounter.
Later in the day, the pair repeated the same winning formula to end Burkina Faso’s run by two straight sets.
The men’s contingent, comprising of Paul Akan and Seidu Agyinaku mounted a strong challenge in the presence of a rather sporadic crowd.
In a rather similar twist of fate as the Women’s, Ghana’s male division also suffered a defeat in the first set, but the stumble in the first set only inspired them to dig deep to beat Togo. A task they successfully carried out in a two to one set result.
The duo turned up the heat on Senegal as they dispatched them by two straight sets in the second match.
The contests, both male and female categories is set to continue at the Laboma Beach in Accra.
